These plans will serve a triple purpose. First, they will keep residents busy, thus sharpening their minds. Second, it will make the facility more self-sufficient. And third, once we have the program running at full capacity, we will combat obesity for ourselves and for school children by supplying foods that are naturally low-fat and full of natural vitamins and minerals.
Alzheimer's Unit-Compassion and Care
A 26 bed unit, an extension of the current facility which will enable the abilities of staff to care for those residents diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease or related dementias. This will be a locked special care unit designed to enhance the care and development of effective programs to work with the many behaviors associated with dementia. This unit will have special care staff, specifically designed activities and environments that promote general wellbeing and enjoyment of residents. The new unit will keep Alzheimer's/Dementia residents and their visitors more comfortable by not having to interact with non-Alzheimer's residents. We will have the only non-profit, locked Alzheimer's/Dementia unit in Tazewell County.
Community Re-investmest Program
A neighborhood filled with homes, renovated and ready to accept the disadvantaged citizens in need of assisted living services and those in need of educational and employment opportunities. This program gives a community the ability to re-invest within itself. A place to call home for those citizens who may otherwise have to leave or be re-located to a facility program and a place where citizens can obtain certification as a Certified Nurse's Aide or Medication Aide Technician to care for their loved-ones. This program is projected to be a true model of success with opportunities for decaying and depressed communities to become a re-vitalized and sustainable part of the local and regional economy.
